Having a PH.D. in Sociology, she is currently a Professor of Social Work within the Department of Psychology, with 12 years of recognized work in the field of research.

Her previous professional experience includes a position as agent of social dynamisation, as a recruitment consultant and and a solidarity programmes participant. Currently, she is the Director of the UniverDi Programme (in collaboration with the ONCE Foundation) at the University of Jaén.

Furthermore, she is the coordinator of the official Master’s Degree programme in Leadership, Management and Administration of Health and Social Care Centres and Health Services (Dirección Gestión y Emprendimiento de Centros y Servicios Sociosanitarios), held at the University of Jaén since 2017.

In addition, she is a member of the Academic Commission of the inter-university Ph.D. programme in Comprehensive Care and Health Services created by the Universities of Jaén, Lleida, and Vic-Central University of Catalonia, and held at the University of Jaén.

She was also the Director of all of the four International Congresses on Intellectual Disability that were held at the University of Jaén in 2006, 2009, 2011 and 2016.

In addition, she is the author of various papers published in different books and magazines discussing such issues as dependence, inequality, inclusion and poverty and social exclusion, among which the following papers stand out: “En los bordes de la pobreza”, siglo XXI Editors, as well as her coordinating monograph published in Revista Internacional de Sociología (international journal of sociology): "Procesos de exclusión social en un contexto de incertidumbre” dedicated to the exclusion of people with intellectual disability.

She is also the Vice-President of Colectivo Feminista Carmen Olmedo and a member of the Ethics Committee of Aprompsi (Asociación de personas con discapacidad psíquica de Jaén, Association of Persons with Intelectual Disability of Jaén).
