Frances Gentle

Frances Gentle

Dr Frances Gentle is a lecturer with the Royal Institute for Deaf and Blind Children’s Renwick Centre (Sydney, Australia). She holds conjoint positions with Macquarie University and the University of Newcastle (NSW Australia). Her roles include coordinating and lecturing postgraduate courses in the field of sensory impairment, and researching current issues relating to the education of children with vision impairment.

Frances is President of the International Council for Education of People with Visual Impairment (ICEVI); Co-President of the South Pacific Educators in Vision Impairment (SPEVI); Executive Member of the World Blind Union; and a Member of the Editorial Boards of the ICEVI journal, “The Educator”; and the SPEVI journal, “JSPEVI”.

Frances has 30 years of experience as an educator and lecturer in the field of disability in Australia and internationally, with over 20 years of specialisation in education of children with blindness and low vision.
