    Rafael de Lorenzo García obtained a degree in Law at the Complutense University of Madrid and a Ph.D. in Law "cum laude", and was awarded with University of Alcalá Extraordinary Prize.

    From 1980 to 1992, he was a tutor in Labor Law and Social Security at Universidad Nacional de Educación a Distancia, UNED (National University of Distance Education), Madrid. From 2002 to 2005, he was the adjunct professor at Charles III University of Madrid and then, for 13 years, adjunct professor of Social Work at Uned. Currently, he is an associate professor at the Department of Social Work of the Faculty of Law at Uned.

    Furthermore, he occupied various important positions within the ONCE Organisation and its Foundation (Vice-President, General Secretary), but also within different social organisations linked to disability, third sector, foundations, social economy, etc.

    In addition, he has been a member of numerous Councils of Administration and Boards of Trustees of different foundations.

    Currently, he is the General Secretary of the General Council of the ONCE Organisation and Vice-President of CEPES (Spanish Confederation of Business and Economy) and General Secretary of Plataforma del Tercer Sector (Third-Sector Platform). Moreover, he is also a member of the Club of Rome and Advisory Board of Asociación Española de Fundaciones (Spanish Association of Foundations), as well as of Foro de Justicia y Discapacidad (the Justice and Disability Forum). In addition, he is one of the academics of Real Academia de Jurisprudencia y Legislación (Royal Academy of Jurisprudence and Legislation).

    In conclusion, he published 25 books and more than a hundred chapters of books and articles. He carried out numerous collaborations, held a big variety of conferences and seminars regarding social issues.
