Sylvia Valdezate Ramos

Sylvia obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy from the Complutense University of Madrid (1987-1992) and completed the National Pharmacy Residency Programme at the Clinical Microbiology and Parasitology Unit of (Madrid, 1994-1997).

After finishing the aforementioned specialty, she did her Ph.D. (1998-2002) at the Microbiology Laboratory of Surveillance and Control of Nosocomial Infections of the National Microbiology Centre (CNM) of the Institute of Health Carlos III, in collaboration with the “Ramón y Cajal” Hospital, and thanks to the scholarship from the Community of Madrid for research staff.

Moreover, she is the Associate Editor of the Revista BioMed Central Microbiology, as well as a reviser of other scientific journals. In addition, she is member of both national (SEM, SEIMC) and international scientific bodies (FEMS, ESCMID). Sylvia Valdezate had a car accident in 1984 and suffered a complete spinal cord injury. Since then, she has been a wheelchair user.
